Every so often we venture out of our office to spend time with the tenants that make our business possible. The commercial real estate business revolves around these hard working individualsthat run the businesses that occupy our shopping centers, office buildings and industrial buildings.

We believe their stories will inspire our readers and highlight some pretty amazing businesses. This past week we visited with Michael Berhane, the owner and franchisee of Urban Bricks in Live Oak Texas.

What is your favorite part of running your own business? Your least favorite part?

“My most favorite part of running my own business is that I’m setting a good example for my son; to show him the fruits of hard work and dedication. Even though he is just 3 years old, I can’t wait for him to have the opportunity to learn about business, customer service, taxes, responsibilities and leadership up close and personal. My least favorite thing is that I am working 75+ hours per week. It is hard to not put so many hours into your business and not be successful.”

How do you manage to balance running a business and making sure you spend enough time with your family?

“As of this moment, I am not spending as much time as I am supposed to with my family, especially with having a new business. I am very blessed to have a very supportive and understanding wife that lets me do what needs to be done for us to be successful.”

What is your most popular menu item?

“A customer favorite, The Three Little Pigs pizza, includes red sauce, shredded mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, bacon and Italian sausage”

A customer favorite, The Three Little Pigs pizza, includes red sauce, shredded mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, bacon and Italian sausage is worthy enough of a drive out to 8000 Pat Booker! Not only is the food amazing, but Michael is one of the most genuinely kind individuals I’ve had the pleasure to meet. He will always greet you with a smile and shows kindness to those around him.
