Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Accounting, the Property Accountant is responsible for full cycle accounting of their assigned portfolio in this client facing role. The Property Accountant will work closely with the property management and full accounting team and should be knowledgeable in all phases of commercial property accounting for retail centers, industrial, medical and office buildings including the preparation of annual operating budgets and reconciliations independently. Must meet monthly reporting deadlines for assigned portfolio, and assist with other properties/duties as needed.
Qualifications
In addition to requirements below, must be organized, reliable, self-motivated, courteous, detail oriented, able to work as a team player, and able to prioritize and perform multiple projects. Must be knowledgeable in terminology relative to commercial real estate leases and capable of handling multiple properties and multiple owners. The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude who is looking for long-term employment and seek growth opportunities.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Special Skills: Typing: 60 wpm; proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel
- Two years property accounting experience with AppFolio, Yardi, or MRI
- Capable of interpreting and abstracting commercial Leases
- Understanding and preparation of financial reporting including budget variances
- Attention to detail, well-organized and meets deadlines
- Ability to work independently and with various property managers
- Exceptional customer service skills (communicating with owners, vendors, and tenants)
- Promote teamwork among employees in order to accomplish goals
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) a plus
- Understanding complex journal entries for acquisitions, refinance, etc a plus
- Property accounting skills test will be applied at a paid working interview before a position is offered
